Framing Day 11: Where I Play Animal Crossing Most of the Day

  They finished framing out the small window.  I feel like progress pictures for a bit are going to be slow looking.  It is only two or three guys working and what they are doing now is more fiddly and takes longer to show any progress.

  Bill said he didn't mention about how we are confused about the status of the egress window, but I did hear the two guys talking about the plans.  One asked if the copies they had were the latest ones and if the guy knew if any changes had been made.  It looks like they have now left enough room for the opening of the egress window.
  I'm still not sure when the opening for it is getting cut out but I hope someone does.  That has been in the plans from the start, so it's not like we added it after the fact.

  I didn't notice before the markings before, but these were probably made when the house was first constructed.  I'm not sure why, but I find them to be neat.
  I have made it through all of one repeat of my chart pattern.  However, I also got distracted by playing the new Animal Crossing game.  They give you crafting and have two events going on right now.  Some of my island is a bit messed up because my Switch was set to May 9 and for some reason didn't sync with the internet to fix the day.  I know it confirmed the day with me at one point, but I've lost track of days and didn't notice for a while.  I was tempted to start over, but I like the fruit I got as a starter and I like the neighbors I have.  I don't know how many starting neighbor options there are, but I thought it might take forever to get the exact same combo as I did before.  A few of my achievements will be odd, like how I caught 5 bugs in May, but 10 in April.  I still do wish I had noticed sooner, but I also might not have gotten this combo on my island.  I also now have some of the hard to get event items, so there would be no way to transfer those, since it's saved on my character.

Framing Day 10: I'm Confused.

  They have started to work on the framing for the outer walls.  We feel like they still have more things to get done before they do this.  There is still a bunch of old plumbing that needs to be taken out, plumbing that needs to be moved, and they need to cut out to widen the other window.  Bill says he is going to talk to them about it.

  Most of the photos from now on will be inside stuff.  Since they have done everything to fix the foundation, there isn't much to do out there for a bit.  They will still need to work on my egress window and fill in around it, but we don't know when that will happen.

  It is also interesting how there is a board sandwich on the top.  We didn't check all of them, but the boards by the other window aren't nailed in, so they might just be spacing them for later and will adjust if needed before nailing them on.  Right now they are just on either side of the current window, which is not the four feet it needs.  They might also plan on cutting out the window area.
  I was super confident in my chart the other day, but I actually found a mistake.  I hadn't counted the actual stitches that I had that row using and I only had 12 stitches being accounted for when I had 13 stitches to use.  It was something easy to fix, and I'm glad I caught it now.

Remodel Day 9: Some Stuff Happened

  There was only one guy working today.  He got in fairly late compared to the people who had worked the past days.  He brought in some wood and I'm not sure what else he did, probably prepping and checking things before the next phase can start.

  I've been pretty busy.  I got a few more things listed on my Etsy shop that I hadn't before.  I also got a bit of knitting done.  I keep getting distracted or I would be farther along in the pattern.  I'm far enough along that I think the chart is good to go.  I will still need to type it up at some point for the finished pattern.  It is also getting a bit tight and I might need a longer needle before this is done.

Foundation Day 8: The Beep-Beeps Are Back

  Phil said the inside and outside work by this people will be done today.  He said we didn't have drainage on all sides of our basement before, but now we do.  They are putting another sump pump in, so now we have two.  They will be coming back later to regrade the back and add seed and make it all pretty.  The said that after one of their other jobs a neighbor asked if they had had a landscaper come out, so it sounds like they really will make it pretty good looking.

  Mitch (the BobCat driver) and Bill bonded some more over home brewing and his Trans Am.  I feel like they could be pals in their off time.  Tank will be glad that the BobCat is going away because he didn't like the beeping it made when in reverse.

  The cement they use takes about 48 hours to finish curing.  This is good timing because the next set of people won't be out until Monday.  They did a really good job at smoothing it out, but I've also never worked with cement before, so it might be pretty easy to work with.

  I don't think they know how motes work.  You don't usually fill them with dirt, but I'll trust them on this manner.  Bill was mentioning that he had been thinking of re-landscaping this side of the front of our house anyway.  I'm hoping to be able to get a rosemary bush in there somewhere.

  Phill talked about how if they had been able to get someone out from the other team, that he could have had his people put in the U of my egress window.  It seems that the right people hadn't been able to coordinate quickly enough, so it's still sitting in our driveway.

  I feel kinda silly.  I had listed some of these on my Etsy shop and got a sale!  I had thought that I had condensed all my Etsy shop items in one bin, but when I looked in there I couldn't find the blue beaded ones.  I looked for a while and in all the places it might have been in, but no luck.  I then had to go into my crafting storage room and get the supplies to make more.  I made another set for her and I hope she doesn't mind that they will look a bit different.
  Though we are stuck inside still, Bill is going to be making bacon wrapped pork chops for our anniversary dinner.  I have his present all finished and ready to give to him.  I also have most of my to-do list done for the day!  Today was pretty good.

Foundation Day 7: Another Pretty Quiet Day

  The cement set over night and they took the supports down.  Our house is supporting itself again and you almost can't see were the crack used to be.  They have the holes patched in the other room and will probably get to these tomorrow.

  They added some gravel and the grey waffle stuff to help with future moisture.  Bill says that they have more trenching to do, since we are moving where the bathroom will be in the basement.  I'm not sure if this group would be in charge of that or another one.

  These are the odd mirrors that are under our basement stairs.  Bill says that it will be amusing if they survive everything and I pointed out that they are doing pretty well so far.  I still don't understand why they are under there, but I'm willing to go with it.  I know Mr Jag would come visit the kitty he saw in them, he would also meow down to talk with "basment kitty" if he couldn't go visit.

  I had thought that they were just doing work inside, but they also painted on some stuff to help seal the house even more.  Not sure why they didn't manage to get that whole section done, but I assume they know what they are doing.

  Since I've been keeping Tank company I've been stuck for large chunks of the day in one room.  Opening the window helps some, but I decided to go for a walk.  Our mail box flag broke so we can't put outgoing mail in there.  I had to mail something, so I just walked to the post office.  It was so nice out and I am really glad I went out.

  Tank is part puppy, so he likes rolling in smells and dirt.  Because of the rain the other day the workers have had mud on their shoes.  Tank has been enjoying the fact that he can roll around in the dirt in the comfort of his own home.  I try and dust him off as best I can before he gives himself a bath.
  The knitting has been going along pretty nicely.  It is also slowing down because I add eight stitches every other row.  I'm hoping that tomorrow will have some better lighting out so I can try and take a picture of where I am.

Foundation Day 6: It's Hammer Time

  We got a new dumpster because the old one got filled up.  That Zippy Shell thing is also pretty cool, but they don't have a lot in there, so I don't totally know why it is there.  I'm guessing that it might be for the more decorative finishing items.

  This is so weird.  Our house is being held up by some jacks.  Houses are just so heavy by themselves and ours is filled with items, a few people, and some cats!

  The jacks are in the areas where we had cracks.  Which makes sense because then they can relieve the pressure and straighten it back out again.

  We figured out what the wood was being used for.  They used some on the inside and outside to straighten the foundation while they do what else they need to do.

  I thought they were going to lift the house more to get the rebar and cement into place.  Turns out they are just breaking parts of the bricks, sliding the rebar in and filling with the cement.  I was kind of hoping we would get a cement truck, but turns out we don't need that much at once, they are just hand mixing in buckets.

  They are also adding these metal beams to help reinforce the foundation on that side.  It isn't currently pushing in, but it would be nice if it never did.  I feel like I will never need this information, but it is fun to see how all of this is coming together.

  It didn't sound like they were doing much during the day, but they got a lot done with the wood and fixing our foundation.

  Today has been pretty restful for Tank.  There was a lot of hammering and some sawing sounds, but that's about it.  He has taken to growling at the people in the morning when they ring the doorbell.  He's so smart sometimes.
  I also have Mary's present blocking right now.  Looking at it makes me want to make one for myself.  It's just such a fun pattern.  I'm not sure if she reads this, so I won't be posting pictures too soon.

Foundation Work Day 5: It's Like The House is Purring

  I'm not sure what tool they are using, it isn't very loud but you can hear a low vibration sound, so it sounds like the house is purring.  I've been seeing so many people playing the new Animal Crossing and it made me want to play too.  I don't have a copy of the new game(yet) so I charged my old Nintendo DS up and played some of my old Wild World game.  There are so many things I still need to do in this game!

  Tank really doesn't like the sound of the big trucks backing up and beeping.  That's what really makes him nervous.  He was pretty fine with the jackhammering, but once he starts hearing those beeps he goes into hiding.  I wish I could ask him why that sound bothers him so much.

  They have this thing.  It's like a jackhammer, but a shovel, a jackshovel?  I think that's what I was hearing earlier this morning.  It's really interesting and I don't think I've ever seen one before.

  This is where we are going to raise the sharks before we put them in the moat.  I decided we need miniature sharks with lasers in our moat.

  Anyone can have an outdoor moat, but we are working on also having an indoor moat.  You can see how much water is in it.  Because of all of the moisture down there, the door to the basement is swelling and rubbing on the wooden kitchen floor.  I am not happy about that.

  It is pretty freaky to look out the french doors and just see a pit.  The dirt is pilled up to the left of this picture, so we are getting a wall to go on the outer part of our back-moat.  That way it will make it even more difficult for invading squirrels to get in.

  I saw this mark on the floor when I was down there checking on the indoor moat.  I feel like it is a good sign because it looks like a cat head when they are listening to something behind them.

 I had planned on doing the entire test knit out of one color, but when I got to the end of the garter stitch area and had used most of my first skein (out of two), I knew I had to go with something else.  I could have bought more brown, but they don't make that particular yarn anymore, so I don't know if the colors would have matched enough.  I also had planned on making a note in the pattern in case someone wanted to make it with two colors.
  Now I'm debating on if I should make two of them or if I should just use one of the tester's pictures on the pattern page on Ravelry.  That will be something to worry about later.
