During our last trip to the cabin Tank was crouched down and intently looking at the door that separates the original cabin from the additions. Jim looked behind the door and saw a black snake. When Bill and I looked at it we recognized it as the one that will sometimes be curled up in the dead stump in front of the cabin and will sometimes come in to eat mice.
Bill gently pushed it with some cardboard and it headed for the screen door. He then opened it and the snake went right out after a bit more encouraging. Tank didn't know it had left and kept an eye out for it.

I was having problems when I would join the last tentacle because it would look different than the others. I tried a few things, but I think I've figured out how I like to do it. I mark the stitch between the last single crochet and the first slip. When I get back to it I slip stitch into the front loop, chain 1, then pull the loop through the whole stitch from front to back. I then pull the loop out, cut the yarn, and gather the bottom.
